Medical Massage is Doctor prescribed
Massage Therapy treatments that are covered
by insurance.
A Medical Massage is Muscle Therapy
sessions set up by the person making the
appointment and has a prescription from their
Doctor and that insurance is covering the
treatments.
The person is now considered a
'patient'. Medical Massage treats specific
issues using medical massage techniques and
is not a full body massage. If the
Doctor prescribes a diagnosis of one body
region, the massage is approximately 30
minutes. If the Doctor prescribes two body
regions, then the appointment is approximately
60 minutes. The treatment sessions are
'outcome' based. Not time based.
If asked, "Can you get my _____?" (Insert body
area.) If the area in not on the Doctors orders, it
will not be worked.
Medical Massage is NOT a full body massage.
Should a 'client' become a 'patient' then the
focus will be on the Medical Massage. No
Relaxation Massages will be done during
the prescribed treatments.
Once the Doctors prescribed treatments are
complete, and the patient is released, then
Relaxation Massages can resume.
When a patient calls to set up an appointment,
s/he will be asked for:
- a copy of the prescription,
- if this is a car accident or injury,
- for the insurance information.
- a copy of drivers license and insurance card.
Insurance information will be verified before
the appointment. At the appointment, you will
be asked to fill out the appropriate forms.
